Lock Nuts

Lock Nuts

A lock nut is a nut that will resist loosening under vibration and torque. There are many types of lock nut but they can be broadly divided into those which use friction to prevent loosening and those that have some form of positive locking device.

Application : If one or more of the connected objects vibrates, for example, those vibrations may knock the nut loose. Some nuts, however, are designed to protect vibration-related loosening. Known as lock nuts, they are frequently used in applications where one or more of the joined objects produces vibrations.
